ADP Class Descriptions

Pre Ballet Beginning

A creative and fun class to teach fundamental ballet techniques while stretching and strengthening your young dancer in preparation for Beginning Ballet. 4-6 year olds - 45 minutes

Ballet 1

Beginning Classic Ballet instruction. This level is the next step for the Pre Ballet dancer as well as any beginning dancer 7 years old or above. Dancers are taught Classic Ballet style of dance and terminology, while gaining the strength, flexibility, and confidence required to move to intermediate ballet instruction.

Ballet 2/3

Requires a minimum of 2 years of introductory ballet training, or upon approval from dance instructor. Here, dancers refine their technique & skills. They should be able to recall basic vocabulary and feet placement. Dancers move into more advanced movement with the barre and learn more across the floor combinations. Leaps and Turns classes are a recommended compliment as well.

Ballet 4/5

Requires 3-4 years of Ballet training and you will need approval from the ballet instructor to enter this class, this level is for the dancer that is looking to perfect their skill set in Ballet and possibly compete.
Variations on Pointe and difficult combinations will be taught at this level.

Jazz 1

Introductory course will teach dancers the basic fundamentals of jazz, including the freedom to interpret the moves in the dancer’s own way. Dancers should have a great understanding in ballet 1 basics, and it is highly encouraged to enroll in both classes.

Jazz 2/3

Minimum of 2 years experience in a beginning level Jazz class or upon approval from the dance instructor. To excel in Jazz, dancers should have a strong background in ballet, as it teaches you grace and balance. Students will learn double pirouettes and more advanced turns of coupe’, a la secondes, fouettes, and more. Ballet 2 and Leaps and Turns classes are highly recommended to take as well.

Jazz 4/5

Advanced Jazz instructions & preparation for future competition team. Additions to class are by audition only.

Tap

Tap is the art of dance that uses your feet as percussions. Broadway tap is widely used in musical theater and jazz tap makes your feet a part of the music. Dancers will learn a variety of tap techniques, making a musical dance masterpiece.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is often referred to as street dancing, and is done to the rhythm and beats of hip hop music. Dancers will learn a wide range of dance styles, tricks and much more!

Lyrical

Lyrical is a beautiful fusion between ballet and jazz with contemporary styles of movement. Lyrics to songs inspire the dancer’s movements to express their emotions. This style of dance has become very popular due to ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ and other talent shows.

Leap & Turns

This class concentrates on the technical aspects of leaping, jumping and turning by teaching a series of these movements while focusing on weight and direction changes. Students will develop balance, strength, elevations and body alignment. (Dancers must have at least one year of beginning ballet or jazz to enter this class.)

Strength & Style

This one hour class focuses on strengthening all the supporting muscles necessary to advance as a dancer. The first half of class is utilized for strengthening and conditioning and the second half of the class focuses on style and performance qualities. (Dancers must have at least one year of beginning ballet or jazz to enter this class)

Musical Theatre Jazz

This class is designed for the dancer that would like to explore the more theatrical side of dance. You will be learning combinations and facial expressions to many songs that are inspired by broadway musicals. Must have a minimum of 1 year jazz experience and teacher approval to enter this class.
